    From the “Off the Beaten Path” series published by Globe Pequot, let The Dakotas Off the Beaten Path show you a side of North and South Dakota you never knew existed.

    Today we tackled the famed Narrows at Zion Nationa Today we tackled the famed Narrows at Zion National Park. It was adventurous to do, but we didn’t go any deeper than our thighs. Some people kept going through chest-high water, but the water was about 56 degrees, and it was still chilly out as we had to arrive super early. We arrived by 8:15, and all the park parking spots were gone. We found a spot nearby, though, and handy for renting walking sticks, neoprene socks and special boots for walking across the river rocks. Only shuttle buses are allowed into the park’s main north-south route. It was a good way to chat with and enjoy fellow travelers, but we were ready to leave after that one hike. Too many people. We were ready to get back to our quiet small town of Orderville east of Zion. #zionnationalpark #thenarrows #nationalparktravel #visitutah

The blue sky, red rocks, white clouds and a little green valley that was home to the town of Fruita were spectacular. Sadly, the 32 dozen pies sold out.
