Award-winning journalist, author, and teaching artist

Get outside and explore!

Nature nurtures. It’s a lesson Lisa Meyers McClintick learned growing up in Minnesota and continues to be a favorite topic whether she’s working as an award-winning freelance writer and photographer, highlighting travel destinations, or leading workshops as a teaching artist.

She has written travel features for the Minnesota Star Tribune since 2001 and has a regular This Week in Nature feature highlighting everything from wild animals and plants to celestial events. She’s written for National Geographic and Midwest Living magazine and frequently contributes to USA Today special sections including National Parks, Go Escape Midwest, Pride, and Native Americans.

Her passion for travel, the outdoors and journaling led her to begin sketchbooking in 2015. She joined the Minnesota Master Naturalist program as a volunteer in 2021, and became a nature journaling educator certified through John Muir Laws’ Wild Wonder Foundation in 2024. She also leads workshops for creating travel journals, writing memoir and wet-felting projects.
